DERMAL FILLERS FAQ

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectables that temporarily add fullness to wrinkles or other parts of your face. The main use of dermal fillers is restoration after age-related facial volume loss. Dermal fillers also can enhance your appearance if you are not happy with the volume in a particular area. There are many types of dermal fillers, but MD Touch Aesthetics & Wellness offers Juvéderm and Radiesse because it is safe, effective, and extremely reliable. The Juvéderm group of dermal fillers contains a wide range of formulas that are ideal for many uses, and Radiesse adds even more variety for the best result.

Where can my doctor inject dermal fillers?

With a quick injection, dermal fillers can treat many areas, including:

  • Nasolabial folds. These often are referred to as smile lines. They are one of the telltale signs of aging and start at the bottom of your nose and go down to either side of your mouth. There are a couple of Juvéderm formulas that work well in your nasolabial folds, including Juvéderm XC and Juvéderm Vollure.
  • Cheek lift. Midface volume loss is another common problem with aging. Juvéderm Voluma is ideal for fighting sunken cheeks and loose skin in the midface.
  • Lip augmentation. Lips can thin over the years, and you can develop tiny vertical lines on the outer lip borders. Even if you don’t have age-related lip thinning, you might not be happy with the volume or shape of your lips. Juvéderm XC adds significant volume, while Juvéderm Volbella adds subtle volume. Either formula can gently shape your lips.

Sometimes, dermal fillers are used in other areas. The MD Touch Aesthetics & Wellness physicians are highly trained in filler injection and can add filler precisely where you need it for a natural and youthful look.

What can I expect after dermal filler injections?

You’ll see the difference instantly, which is one of the reasons that fillers are so popular. There is no downtime after filler injections. After your dermal filler injections, you’ll have some minor swelling in the treatment area. You might have some mild bleeding and bruising, but it’s rare to have any serious discomfort after dermal filler treatment.

How often do I need filler injections?

It depends on the filler and treatment area. In the lips, fillers usually last 6-12 months. Fillers in the nasolabial folds usually last around 12-18 months. Juvéderm Voluma in the cheeks lasts around 24 months. Radiesse is one of the longest lasting dermal filler options with results lasting anywhere form 15 months to three years. We recommend coming in for a touch up before.
